KINGSMEAD CENTRE CELEBRATES ITS 29th ANNIVERSARY
with the Magis Series Programmes
by FR MONTY WILLIAMS, SJ

1) Talk: The Dynamics of Forgiveness in Ignatian Tradition

The Christian mission is one of forgiveness which occurs when we, filled with the Holy Spirit, continue the mission of Christ in the world (Jn 20).

This talk presents the dynamics of forgiveness by looking at what we are grateful for in our past, present, and future, as well as the areas of our entrapment that we need to bring to God’s mercy. We discover the work of forgiveness goes beyond our personal salvation, and will only be fully accomplished at the end of time when the Christ returns a creation, brought into the fullness of life in him, back to the Father (1Cor 15:24-28).

Dates & Time: Wednesday, 9 October 2019, 7.30pm - 9.30pm
Contribution: $50 (if attending 2 talks - $80)
Register: PDF file or Online Form

2) Talk: Discerning The Signs of  The Times

This talk describes some ways in which our contemporary culture is read and suggests each is an attempt to deal with the tensions between security and rootedness, ideology and Mystery, power and Emptiness, complacency and creativity. A recognition of how we personally negotiate these tensions shows what we value in the light of a God,who values us and constantly calls us beyond ourselves to a fuller manifestation of life.

Dates & Time: Wednesday 16 October 2019, 7.30pm - 9.30pm
Contribution: $50 (if attending 2 talks - $80)

3) Retreat: The Dynamics of Spiritual Desire

The Way of the Faithful carries us through stages of spiritual development into forms of growing intimacy with the Christ. These stages follow the Four Weeks of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola: the realization that we are loved beyond the traps that stop us from realizing the extent of that love; learning to live out of that love in our daily lives by our personal encounters with Christ; following Jesus in his passionate love for the Father; and continuing the work of Jesus in our daily lives by accepting the gift of the resurrection.

This weekend retreat will include inputs, personal prayers, small group sharing, and daily Eucharist.

Dates & Times: Friday, 4 Oct (7.30pm) to Sunday, 6 Oct 2019 (5pm)
Contribution: $270 (non-Air Con), $330 (Air Con)
Register: PDF file or Online Form

4) Retreat: The Search for A Home

This weekend retreat will explore the theme of the search for a home and belonging, which is the desire of every human being. During this retreat, three films will be screened - Fire At Sea, Brooklyn and Welcome - to invite and help the participants to pray and dwell on the retreat theme deeper.

There will be an  introduction before each screening and any questions that the films may trigger will be addressed. There will be personal prayers and reflections that may raise questions about our search for a home. There will be also small group sharing and general gathering with a daily Eucharist.
